Passenger Book Review
Hey! This is my first book review; I hope you enjoy!
Passenger-Alexandra Bracken
A journey through time with a heavy accent on romance.
Personal rating:
Plot- 6/10
Characters- 4/10
Writing- 7/10
Overall- 60%
If I felt like exaggerating, I would've said that the best thing about this book was its gorgeous cover. I have to admit that I feel rather lonely in the enormous wave of hype that is Passenger. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book but I overall think it was a big let down for a few reasons. I overall don't recommend this book, as I find it overhyped and the insta-love made me want to roll my eyes until they bleed. If you want to read about some of my personal faves instead click here, and here to get Passenger on Book depository.
WARNING SPOILERS STARTING NOW
When I started this book I was very excited about Etta being a violin prodigy. A lot of YA female protagonists have no real personality and passion, and even if they do it's usually reading (to be relatable), which of course there is no evidence of in the whole book. You can't imagine how disappointed I was that we never got to see her actually play in the book. I was expecting it to happen somehow at the end of the book, or even when there is a violin on Nicholas' ship.
Talking about Nicholas and Etta, I found them hard to get attached to, and bland. Their relationship was the perfect example of insta-love and it was so cheesy I hated cheese for a week after it. Joking. I love cheese.
The villain I didn't care about, honestly, and that's a shame.
The writing style was very good though, although it didn't stand out. I particulary like this quote: "She could feel him drifting away on the tide of his thoughts, so she swum out to meet him."[Chapter 14]. There are lot of poetic moments such as this one scattered through the book, but I felt that it often weighed down the action.

Okay, have I lost you? I hope not. Feel free to tell me your opinion on the book; I'm really open to discussion. For other book related posts click here.
