Dream-An original short story
I only saw the Bovinians once in my life, and that was exactly two years ago.
It was a hot night and the beat was intoxicating. Four-handed servers swished around, forcing rosé-champagne into empty hands.
The garden was lush and made of shadows, the pool ice cold. The air smelled like sweat and pine trees.
At midnight, the garden door swung open and a group of horned men and women sauntered in. All were bronze skinned and dark haired. They wore their curved horns as if they were crowns, confidence rolling off them like waves.
They melted in the thick crowd almost instantly.
I was alone at a table, sipping champagne and working up the courage to go to the dance floor, when she appeared out of nowhere.
"Dance with me."
Her hair was thick and silky, her eyes shining in the moon light, and without waiting for an answer, she grabbed my hand and guided me to the dancefloor.
We spun, feet tangled, her hair tickling my nose, her hands in my blonde hair. The purple lights creating blue shadows. Body to body, no hesitation. The moment was floating, untouchable. Unstoppable. My head spining and her half closed eyes. No logic. Insanity.
The music calmed down and dawn came, we kissed in the pool and fell asleep on the bench.
When I woke up she was gone.

This picture is Audra Auclair's. I love her work. Check her out here. |
Writing this was a dream *laughs*. I really tried hard with this, and it would mean a lot if you told me what you think, and shared, of course.
I'm thinking that all of these short stories are set in the real world. Maybe I'll start connecting them. I've also had the idea of writing short stories about characters based on Hogwarts houses...
Thank you for reading this!
